NIRO-Thermokorb - Insulated Balcony Connectors |
The NIRO Thermokorb is a heat insulating, load bearing connection element between structural parts of reinforced concrete. It is used to improve heat insulation of cantilever reinforced concrete slabs at their connection to the inside of a building. Further possible applications are: loggia connections, corbelled facing consoles as support for walls, connections of parapet walls, arcade balconies, platforms etc. The individual ribs are made by means of welding robots in heights of 11 cm, 13 cm, 15 cm and 17 cm, allowing to obtain a thickness of slab of 16 cm up. | | | | |

Summary of types and applications |
The AVI NIRO Thermokorb is made in four main types.
Special types are possible on request.
Type series TKM
For cantilevered balconies (cantilever slabs). Mainly to absorb bending moments and shear forces (interaction), even with varying directions.
Type series TKA
To absorb shear forces, bending moments and axial tension and compression forces. Appropriate for brackets or corbels, parapet walls and for the connection of several types of prefabricated elements. For determination of the admissible bending moments and shear forces, the same interaction diagrams can be used as for type series TKM.

Type series: TKF (split elements of type series TKM)
This two-piece version of type series TKM has been developed in particular for prefabricated elements (half slabs). One part (compression chord) is installed in the prefabricated slab element, the second part (tension chord) is set up on construction site.

Type AT/2 for parapet walls on top of slabs
Type AT/2 has been developed in particular for the connection of parapets. Every element consists of two ribs at a distance of 16 cm and with a height of 11 cm. The minimum thickness of the parapet wall is 16 cm.
For parapet walls with a thickness of 12 cm, a single rib (TKA R1 11/16) laid crosswise can be used.
